LA ENVIDIA - Desear algo que otra persona tiene, se castigaba sumergiendo al pecador en agua congelada hasta que muriese.
En principio los tonos frios de esta pieza representan ese agua helada.
La hoja representa el objeto deseado, (recordando el dicho popular "estás verde de envidia").
De hay el tono verdoso de la hoja, pero a la vez también un tono gris azulado, que representa el agua congelada donde se castigaba al pecador.
ENVY - Want something that another person has, the sinner was punished by immersing in ice water until they died.
At first the cold tones of this piece represent the water ice.
The leaf represents the desired object (remembering the old adage, "you're green with envy").
From there the greenish hue of the leaf, yet also a bluish gray, which represents the frozen water where the sinner was punished.
